Türkiye's most famous female Chef/Owner Didem Şenol Tiryakioğlu has taken  “Time Out Istanbul’s Best Chef Award”  in the 2010.

She trained at the “French Culinary Institute” in New York. She also wrote a cookbook called “Kızınız Defneyi, Oglumuz Iskorpite” … She was inspired to write this cookbook from Aegean Cuisine …

 

I came here with a reference of a friend of mine. And I am happy to be here !

A lot of pleasant restaurants opened in Karakoy. Lokanta Maya is one of those restaurants. The place is small and intimate …

In the entrance, the showcase was full of different herbs and dried vegetables.

It is delightful for Didem to create the miracle foods for her guests ...

APPETIZERS :

Bolu muhammara is an appetizer that was served with bread.

Bread was made from potato and rye.

Ekmek, patates ve çavdardan yapılmış.

Hatay Muhammara consisting of dried red peppers, ground walnuts, pomegranate syrup, olive oil, garlic, and spices …

Hatay Muhammara, kurutulmuş kırmızı biber, çekilmiş ceviz, nar ekşisi, zeytinyağı, sarımsak ve baharatlardan oluşur.

 

* The difference of “Bolu muhammara” from “Hatay muhammara” is having fenugreek (çemenotu) in it.
“Bolu Muhammara” sının “Hatay Muhammara”sından farkı içinde “Çemenotu” var.

STARTERS

I choosed  Vegetable patty (in turkish,mücver) as a first starter.

Zucchini fritters,coriander yoghurt sauce

Mücver,kişnişli yoğurt sos

The second starter was Kadayıf.

Kadayıf stuffed with feta cheese, rosemary honey

Kadayıfta beyaz peynir,biberiyeli bal.

 

MAIN DISH

 

Grilled seabass, purslane salad with lentil

Izgara levrek, mercimekli semizotu salatası

My impressions about foods :

* Muhammara  is one of my favorite appetizer of all time.  I am sure that you will like it.

 

* The yoghurt sauce with “vegetable patty” was a great match…

* Kadayıf  was delicious !

* I highly recommend this grilled seabass. Fish well done and tasty!

* Good food, service and smiling staff !

* I also found reasonable price.

Some Notes :

Lunch is served between 12:00am – 5:00 pm, and dinner 5:00 PM – 10 pm. The menu changes after five o’clock everyday.
