Asitane means “ Door to Happiness (Mutluluk Kapısı) ” and “Former names for Istanbul” in Ottoman Turkish.

Peaceful sitting area around the side of the Chora Museum is to escape from the city bustle …

Kariye Museum has amazing Byzantine frescoes and mosaics.

I recommend Asitane Restaurant after visiting the Church of St.Saviour in Chora (Kariye Kilisesi in Turkish) which is the next door of restaurant.

Famous restaurant visited by celebrity chefs and authors like Anthony Bourdain and famous Turkish gourmet writers.

Batur Durmay and his family’s kitchen success:

Be loyal of Asitane’s cuisine and done a lot of research throughout history .

Asitane offers seasonal menü includes over 200 recipes and using of the produce at their seasonal best.

The owner of Asitane, Batur Durmay who accompanied and guided me from start to finish
the tasting menü:

Asitane Restaurant is known Ottoman cuisine or feasting for Sultan and his sons of the Ottoman Empire…

As history tells us, the Ottomans lived magnificently …

Ottoman cuisine, which has influenced cuisine and inspired of large geographical regions. ..

Turkish cuisine developed with the migration of peoples and cultural traditions.

A synthesis of Central Asian, Anatolian, Middle Eastern and Balkan flavours…

Anatolian cuisine (Turkish: Türk mutfağı) influenced neighbouring cuisines… And Defined Ottoman cuisine as “fusion food."

Food recipes are from “three Palaces” kitchens (Topkapı, Dolmabahçe and Edirne)

The meal pairs well with both sweet and savory flavors.

Dinner was delicious from the start to finish. Also special thanks to the Chef Fuat Yamaç for preparing wonderful meals.

It was a restful Turkish music (Ottoman Classical music) played in the background…

This restaurant, just around the corner of Chora Church.
