Sığacık is a small town between Seferihisar, İzmir Province  and the historical city of Teos. Sığacık is the port of the  Seferihisar. Sığacık, a lovely fishing village and has a beautiful views.

Dionysus, the Greek god of wine in Mythology. The people of Teos built the temple of Dionysus and modern village settled in Sığacık (old Teos)

 

Sığacık is also has been gourmet destination since the opening of a marina .  İzmir is well known for its excellent eateries and Seafood restaurants.

Seferihisar’s Sığacık Fortress, best known for its Sunday’s farmers market. The market is set up within the castle walls. Restaurant owners are buying their foods in local farmer’s markets. Farmers offers fresh produces.

My food trips  in Bogo Cafe ;

Boyoz is a Turkish pastry,  Kumru is a special kind of sandwich with melted cheddar and tomato slices, Bazlama, flat baked bread.

Classic breakfast;

Omelette with herbs, butter,olive,  Sığacık red pepper  jam,..

Armola cheese (is making from milk of sheep and goats), is making from cheese crumbs.  Salty and sour taste, Adding the olive oil, sprinkling thyme, red pepper  to eat.

You should try Sığacık mandarin jam  is enormous flavors.

 

Sığacık  is on the west of Seferihisar and there are beautifully smelling tangerine mandarins.

You can find fresh organic vegetables, fruits and homemade jams etc…prepared by the women.  

The people of seferihisar were very nice and hospitable. …This place worth visiting in the Sığacık fortress.

 

 What is Cittaslow :

The Cittaslow movement was born in Italy in 1999. Cittaslow is Italian for  Slow-City.

Cittaslow movement has spread countries all over the world. Seferihisar, the first Citta-Slow town and Citta-Slow member in Turkey.

The word “ Citta ” is derived from ” city ” name from italy  “slow” from english

Cittaslow’s goals  to improve  the quality of life in the town.

Cittaslow-Cute Snail  is symbol of the movement.

İzmir’s  farmers and environmentalists silent protested  against “tuna fish farm plans” in Sığacık.
