I found the the Dostlar Bakery with a small two-floor corner shop in Alsancak with my survey.
Cafe serves boyoz baked in a wood fired oven with baked eggs. There are also many traditional breakfast items next to all kinds of boyoz in the bakery. You can find different kinds of sweet and savory pastry such as boyoz plain or boyoz filled with cheese, aegean herb, artichoke, spinach, aubergine, leek, plenty of tahini, molasses and chocolate in bakery.
We grabbed a table and looked around . I got up and went inside to get our boyoz. I ordered for both of us. They are giving it all on paper which is a delight. After we have received all we want , we are paying our bills after we ate boyoz and drank our tea.
You should get used to see the queue in front of it's door at all hours of the day. But since quick service café, you do not wait too long to get your orders. The teas are also very tasty.
When I ate the boyoz I realized why bakery was so crowded. The café, run by a family business, offers all their favorites. When you go to Izmir you should taste these popular pastries.
"Dostlar" is the way to say "friends" in Turkish. The staff is extremely polite and they have a great team effort.
One of the Favorite Breakfast Spots! in İzmir
BOYOZ :
Boyoz is a kind of oily, hollow type of pastry made from unleavened dough! It is a popular pastry for breakfast in the morning. You can see hawkers selling boyoz in every corner of the İzmir during beautiful morning in seashore.
Boyoz, is a gift given to İzmir by Sephardic Jews from Spain and Portuguese. "Boyoz", continues to be a local favorite to this day. The pastry takes its name from "bollos," which means "small loves" in Ladino.
The name "boyoz" is derived from the Spanish word. Boyoz is a plural of the word bollo, which means "little nut", in Spanish spelling.
